Deborah grew up with her head in a book. From a young age she loved to read and was always writing stories, although until recently she’s never been brave enough to share them with anyone! Whilst she wishes she had grown up in Mallory Towers or Hogwarts, Deborah grew up in Stratford-upon-Avon and lives in the Cotswolds with her family.
Deborah was the child who would be found at night hiding under the duvet with a torch reading just one more chapter before succumbing to sleep. She was the teenager who found comfort escaping into the
lives of others when real life got too confusing to cope with. She’s now the adult who, when life gets overwhelming and heavy, finds respite and relief in discovering new worlds and revisiting the ones that live in her imagination. Books and stories are part of her; they are her comfort, her joy and her friends.
She has worked with children and young people for almost a decade and loves seeing how their imaginations develop and their creativity blossoms as they find things they love. She firmly believes that reading changes lives and hopes to encourage a love of reading in all the children she works with.
Powered by caffeine and the delirium of sleepless nights, she wrote her first book - The Storyteller- whilst on maternity leave and she hopes that she won’t have to have another baby to get the next one written!
Years ago she left her heart in Cornwall. She loves nothing more than being by the sea and is happiest when she’s paddling on the water or searching the beach for shells and sea glass. Her debut novel is set
in a fictional town in Cornwall inspired by her Cornwall-the villages and towns she loves the most.
Deborah's debut novel THE STORY TELLER will be available in autumn 2024
